Friday... Finally.

Today is Friday, May 3, the day before prom, 2013. I'm really excited about tomorrow, and I would love to be out of school today, doing things to get ready like many of the other girls, but I don't have the time or money to do so. I'm not getting my hair or nails professionally done because it takes too long AND costs way too much.

I only decided last night how I want to do my hair for prom, and I'm still clueless about my nails (although french tips are tempting). I made reservations for dinner before prom yesterday after school. We're eating chinese food at one of my favourite places... Jade Palace. Its a chinses food place in Humble that has some really good food at decent prices and some really sweet oriental people run the place. One of the waitresses, Sylvia, is kind of like my adoptive grandmother. Not many people go there for anything fancy, but I knew that they could seat us on such short notice. Things like Italiano's, Zio's, Olive Garden, etc. were either way too expensive or bound to be booked.

I think that tomorrow will be a really long but a really fun day. I love dancing, which makes prom really fun for me. I enjoy dressing up, but thats not really a major thing for me. I will get up early in the morning to start getting ready, take pictures, then meet everyone at a friend's house. We'll leave there and go eat, then go to prom. After prom, we'll go back to the same friend's house and stay up all night playing videogames and boardgames and talking. Fun. Nerdy fun, nonetheless, but fun.

Many people are going out and partying or drinking after prom. Personally, I think that's a really terrible idea. You don't have to be drunk or otherwise intoxicated to have a good time. Keep all of the kids from our school in your prayers, in hopes that we'll all be back at school on monday, safe and sound.

In other news, I'm currently reading a book called "Girl In Translation", by Jean Kwok. Its about a girl who comes with her mother to America from China. Its about how she had to adapt to the American school system and way of life. She and her mother work in a garment factory and live in a broken down apartment building that is due to be demolished at any date. Its a really good book that gives insight into what immigrants go through and feel like in their coming to America.

Shopping...

Yesterday, I went shopping with my mom. We left the house at about 5:00 or so, and we didn't get back until 10:30 or so, so I didn't get to bed until roughly 11:00 or later. Needless to say, I am really tired. I almost fell asleep during a lecture in aquatic science AND while I was reading a book in economics.

The first thing that my mom and I did was go and order a boutineer. I really don't care if thats spelled wrong. My hands don't want to type today anyway. We went to one flower shop, but before we pulled into the parking lot they closed. So, we went to the other florist in town, and got there 30 minutes before closing. It ended up being the place that my date had ordered the corsage from, so they looked up his order and made sure that the color was right, and we got them to make the two items match.

The second thing that we did was go to a place called Sam Moon. Its almost like an outlet for jewelry and purses and such. I got my purse for prom. Its a really tiny silver one with sparkles all over it. I already have jewelry for prom, so I didn't have to worry about that. I did manage to get a wig for my Snow White costume though. It isn't a typical snow white hairdo, but a black wig with a bob-style hair. I bought a red bow to wear with it also, but they didn't sell just single bows, so I ended up buying a pack with like ten bows in it. I now feel obligated to wear a bow at least once a week. we looked for shoes there too (they had a shop next door with shoes) but we didn't find anything the right size that would match my dress. My mom doesn't exactly believe that my bobs match the dress perfectly. Its a floor length dress, so it doesn't matter that much.

We went to party city next. We managed to get the last snow white costume they had. The only thing was that its really short, so we bought some fabric at walmart that we are going to use to make a longer skirt. I was rather suprised that they were still selling costumes at this time of the year.

My mother and I then ate at Casa Ole in the mall before heading to walmart. There were some stops in between there, but nothing important. Most of the stores were closing up.

I am about to fall asleep while typing. Blech.

Waiting...

Today, I am simply waiting.

Waiting for lunch, so I can request a transcript and get a new library book.
Waiting for school to be over for the day so I can eat and go to practice and perform The Effect Of Gamma Rays On Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds one LAST time.
Waiting for prom.
Waiting for my first kiss.
Waiting to dress up as Snow White for $50 and the happiness of a two year old.
Waiting for senior trip.
Waiting for graduation.
Waiting to get money from relatives.
Waiting for scholarships, scholarships, and more scholarships.
Waiting for summer.
Waiting for red hair, short shorts, and tank tops every day.
Waiting for a new camera and some awesome new videos.
Waiting to get new, decent editing software.
Waiting to make money through the internet.
Waiting to become famous.
Waiting to go to college.
Waiting to direct my first movie.
Waiting for someone to ask for my autograph.
Waiting for someone to recognize me on the street.
Waiting to record my first album.
Waiting to move out of my parents' house.
Waiting to get married.

I really can't think of anything to blog about today, but at least I got that out in the open. I'm obiously waiting for many things, but with good reason. I just feel overwhelmed sometimes, with all of the things I'm waiting and hoping for. I have to just take a step back and go on with the little bit of the plan that takes place today.

If you haven't noticed already, the very last showing of The Effect Of Gamma Rays On Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds by our One Act Play group is tonight. Its a pretty good show, even if we only got alternate at region. Admission is like $3 I think, and all of the procedes go to the family of the kids in the advancing 1A One act play that got killed in a car crash right after their district contest.

The only thing that I don't like about theatre is having to wear stage makeup. It is really gross and it makes me break out. I had to wear it yesterday for pictures, and I'll have to wear it again today. Why does my face have to go through this right before prom?!

I don't have anything to say, but I want to keep typing. I guess I'll put something new on the lifescouts page. Bleh.

Elizabeth W.

PROM!

Prom is this weekend, and I am very excited.

I bought my dress about a month or two ago at this thing called the 27 dresses project. A bunch of people donated their old prom dresses and then they were sold to people like me/given away to people who needed them but couldn't pay for a prom dress. My dress was the first one you saw when you went into the little building where the shop was set up. I looked through all of the dresses, but I couldn't find anything that I really liked. I had my eye on this dress the whole time though. My mom convinced me to try it on and it fit almost perfectly. They said that a bunch of different people had tried the dress on and it didn't fit any of them. I felt like a princess when I was wearing it.

While we were in San Marcos, my mother and I visited the outlet mall and ended up going to icing. We found some jewelry and hairthings that were silver and we got them for me to wear with my dress. Dangly earrings, a choker-style necklace, and bobby pins with flowers on them.

I had been talking with my mom about getting TOMS to wear to prom (silver sparkly ones) with my dress. I showed her some online but she didn't think they would go. Yesterday we went to academy to buy some new shoes for my brother and dad. I had forgotten that they sold BOBS, the sketchers equivalent of toms that were very similar and half the price. I ended up getting some white ones that were the typical canvas shoe style, but they have this lace pattern on them. Last night I tried them on with my dress, and they look perfect. I'm looking foreward to the fact that I don't have to bring shoes to change into. I can just dance in my bobs. The cool thing about Bobs is that they donate a pair of shoes to kids in need just like toms does. Not to mention, you get a sticker and a bracelet with every pair you buy.

I'm also excited because I actually have a real date to the prom this year. Last year, I actually ended up asking the guy myself. Now I have a wonderful boyfriend that I am going with. Not to mention, we are riding to prom with my best friend, Ellen, and her date. She's dressing as the TARDIS (She found a dress online) and he's going as the doctor. I'm excited to see what this ends up looking like.

Speaking of Doctor Who, I finished the last season on netfilx this weekend. I was rather sad, but I ended up finding a place online where I can watch season 7. I still haven't gotten to the part where Clara comes in. I have a sticky note on my computer that I am using to keep track of what episode I am on and how far into the episode I am. Currently, I am in the 25th minute of season 7 episode 2. Something about dinosaurs.

My dearest spent this weekend watching Japanese anime, so we spent quite a bit of time this weekend talking about it. He says I would like Full Metal Alchemist. I may begin watching it sometime soon. I'm kind of cautious when it comes to anime because I don't know much about it and I haven't ever really watched any, unless pokemon counts as anime.

GAH! I keep obsessing over prom. Every thought seems to come back to it. I really cannot wait for it, and once its here, I will still be obsessing over it for at least a month afterwards.

I am also really looking foreward to the summer. I want to be free of this madness called "school". I also want to be able to spend more time with my dearest and working on youtube videos. I want to be able to wear shorts that are out of school dress code and spaghetti strap tops. I want graduation to be over so that I can dye my hair red and have the money to get a new camera. I want to be 18 so that I can get a paypal account and begin making money via adsense and bandcamp and whatnot.

By the way, I started a bandcamp page for my music. Right now there is only one song up, but there should be more sometime soon. I've been playing around with music recording programs and whatnot. The one on there already is one that I recorded with my phone. My bandcamp adress is lizardbreathwalker.bandcamp.com ,just so you know.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight

I just finished reading the book The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith last night. It was a great book with a really cute story. TSPOLAFS, gosh that is a whopper of an initialism (not an acronym, because you can't pronounce it as a word), follows the 48 hour story of these two teenagers who meet in an airport and end up on the same flight to London. The girl is on her way to her father's wedding to her new stepmother and the boy is on his way to... Well, another event that is similar but not the same. And they're so perfect for eachother and end up talking about everything under the sun and basically falling in love within the first few hours of them meeting. I would give this book basically a 9 out of 10 because it ends in a cliff hanger, and I want to know if they end up becoming boyfriend/girlfriend or if they ever see eachother again. I thought it was going to be terrible because the beginning is kind of slow, but it turned out to be a great read, and unique because the story happened in such a short amount of time.

The librarian is not at school today, which bothers me because I don't have a book to read since I finished TSPOLAFS. I don't know what I'll do all day to occupy my time, especially since I don't have drama practice today. I guess I'll study and work on scholarship applications. Maybe when I get home I'll work on a video. I have a couple ready to edit, I just have to sit down and work on them.

I wonder what the SPOLAFS really is. I mean, obviously the probability is very small. I guess 1 in 1000000000 or so. I wish you could actually look that up, because I tried and I still didn't find it. Probably because it is impossible to study.

I really don't know what to talk about today. I'm not really in a talkative mood. More of a thinkative mood.

I'm going to try and start an exercise routine soon. I'm kind of scared, because I'm not very athletic at all, but I really do want to get back into shape. We have a really long driveway, so I'll be using that to run and bike and walk and stuff. We also have a weight lifting set thing. I forgot what its called. It is not wieght stuff exactly, but more like resistance training. GAH, why can't I remember what that is called?!?! I've thought about eating healthier, but I really don't like to do things like that, and it requires too much willpower, so I will not. I figure some exercise is better than none at all.

Prom is the real reason that I am going to start exercising again. I need to make sure that I still fit into my prom dress. I need to lose that winter insulation. I am by no means fat, but I do feel slightly unhealthy, though I am probably underweight for my age/size. I think if I can start now and get used to exercising, maybe the dreaded "Freshman 15" will skip over me. I also know that it will be better for my future and I will have fewer health problems when I am older. I think its wierd how exercise plans always say "Consult your physician before beginning any new exercise regimen or diet", but no one ever does, unless the doctor is the one who tells them to do it. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I just think exercise needs to be a spontaneous thing, where you decide maybe a week or two before, not consult your doctor before you start it. Doctors don't know me. They don't know about what I need to do. *Insert attitude here*

Can't Stop Reading!

I started reading "The Fault In Our Stars" yesterday and I am more than half way through the book. Literally cannot stop reading it. I managed to put it down while I type this, but I'm still thinking about the story.

There are many things that I hate and many things that I love about John Green's books. I love the fact that the characters seem so real and that they are so relatable. I love that the plot is very unpredictable and totally different than what you would expect. However, I hate the fact that half way through he tries to kill of the main character. It makes for a good story, but it drives me crazy. It also bothers me that he puts many things in the form of ABC/123 lists when he writes. Sometimes is okay, but he seems almost obsessed. I love that he is such  a quotable author.

"I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, then all at once."

His use of language and plot elements just makes for a delicious novel. However, I  have no clue what I will do with my life once I finish reading TFIOS and the books that he has co-written.

Yesterday I told my drama teacher that I would not be able to come to One act play practice on one day during spring break. I knew she would be unhappy, but she really overreacted. I have only missed one other day, so she can just kiss it. It being my foot. Although that seems a lot more insulting and a lot less creepy when said aloud.

I have not had coffee in the mornings for several days. I actually did some mild working out yesterday. Hopefully I can keep it up and maybe increase it so that I can be sure to fit in my prom dress a little better. Meh. I hate exercise.

I really don't know what to talk about. I just want to go back to reading TFIOS.

I have to do an FRQ next period in Economics. Free Response Question. I really hate AP classes and exams. My senior year will be over in just a little more than a six weeks as far as grades go, but I still have to take the AP exams and finish my dual credit class. BLECH.

I will see you tomorrow.

Love,
Elizabeth W.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I finished TFIOS during 4th period. I now no longer know what to do with the rest of my life. I guess I have to go buy the books that John Green co-wrote now, so that I can read them. Is it possible to be addicted to books? I think I may have a problem.

TFIOS was really a great book. The ending was sad, but realistic... Mostly. I know the characters are not real, but I can't help feeling sorry for them.

I finished the book in two days. Actually less.

Well, I have nothing else to do but class is almost over, so bye.

Elizabeth W.

How the Second Blog Came to be...

Yesterday, I was on a chat with the people in my sociology project group. We are basically four random strangers thrown together for the amuzement of a professor, and we have to write a research paper together. However, the chat would not work right and kept disconnecting. So, we moved our project over to blogger. This is the first time that I have ever worked with people that I have never met, besides the 365 nerds project, so I think it is going rather well. I added all of them as authors so they can post whenever and whatever. Hopefully,  it will work out.

I finished reading "Looking for Alaska" this morning and began two other books: The Fault in Our Stars and The Tao of Pooh. One of which is about taoism and how it relates to Winnie the Pooh, and the other is a John Green novel about two cancer patients who are teenagers. I think I'm going to give up on Dreamcatcher by Stephen King for right now. I think I'm too occupied with other things. I'll write down the page number that I am on and read the rest of it someday in the future.

The date I went on Saturday was fun. We went to the mall and saw a movie and went out to eat and talked about everything under the sun. I can't categorize it as good or bad in the way that everyone wants me to because I have nothing to compare it to. That was the first date I have ever been on. He is also the first guy I have been with for more than two days. Unless you count the "we're little kids and we think we like like eachother so we'll sit by eachother and hold hands and pass notes" thing that I had with a kid when I was in first or second grade.

My best friend and I talked about it and she said that I have to tell her when it becomes official. But what is "official" really? When we go out on our first date? When we hold hands for the first time? When he asks me if I would be his girlfriend (do guys do that, or is that just a fairytale thing?)? I am really truly confused by this relationship stuff.

I am also not used to being in any kind of relationship. I keep forgetting that there is a person that I might need to text or talk to at least once a day. I am really bad at relationships.

I got my prom dress this weekend also. I an $800 dress for about $100. It was at this thing called "The 27 Dresses Project" that a local business started. Basically, everyone donated their prom dresses from previous years. Then, girls who don't have the ability to buy dresses get their dresses for free and everyone else gets their dresses at a discounted price. My dress was the first one that you saw when you walked in the door. It is long and green and it makes me feel like a princess when I wear it. I looked through all of the other dresses and I couldn't find anything that I really liked. So, I went and tried on the green dress, even though I had been told that a bunch of people had tried it on and it didn't fit any of them right. It fit perfectly. My mom told me that I couldn't gain any weight between now and prom though, and I need to do a little more exercising and healthy eating to make sure of it.

This morning I found out that one of my best friends is going to prom with another friend of mine, and they are going as the Doctor and the TARDIS. She's buying a TARDIS dress and he's going to find a fez and bow tie. I know that It isn't me going as a tardis, but I'm still excited.

I have a book to read and another blog to check on, so I'll see you later.

Love,
Elizabeth Walker

Unexpected Awesomeness

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were filled with unexpected awesomeness for me. Friday, I got a date for prom (WHOOO!) and throughout the weekend scheduled a date on Saturday the 9th. Saturday I got to go see The Hobbit in theatres, and it was rather amazing. I love the wizard who lives in the woods. He is so adorable and eccentric. Then, I also got to go to Barnes and Noble and I bought two amazing books, LOOKING FOR ALASKA and THE FAULT IN OUR STARS by JOHN stinkin' GREEN! I am currently in the middle of a Stephen King novel, Dreamcatcher, but I have the mental capability to read more than one book at a time, so I am reading Looking For Alaska at the same time. AAAAAAAAAH! Then, on Sunday I got to make a music video, which I am currently in the process of editing, and spend the day texting my dearest. I like that word. Dearest. I should use it more often. I feel like if this was a Vlogbrothers video, one of them would be screaming excitedly at the screen right now, because that is what I feel like doing. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!

Also, during one act rehearsal on Friday, we got assigned parts, and I get to play, like THE main character. I'm almost kind of scared about this, but I really would have played whatever character, as long as I got a part.

I started reading Looking For Alaska last period and I realized that one of the best things about John Green's books is that they are so awesomely relatable and quotable. My favourite quote so far is "You may be smart, but I've been smart longer". That may be paraphrasing. I'm not sure, but I am way too lazy to get up, walk across the room, and get the book to check.

I also spent quite some time watching John and Hank's videos and surfing the DFTBA website. They have some really cool stuff, and I think the next rubber bracelet that I buy will be one that says DFTBA (I collect rubber bracelets with words on them, just check in my videos if you want to know what I mean). I have also been repeatedly told here recently that my glasses are rather hipster-ish, which is something that I am not sure if I like or dislike. I'm unopinionated about it at the moment.

I totally had something that I wanted to talk about but now its gone...

Oh, yeah, my camera decided to come back to life, at least for now. I just went over and tried to turn it on (it had been sitting collecting dust for more than a month) and it worked. I used it to make the music video on sunday. I still want a new camera though. I think I'll leave this one to James (maybe) when I go to college so that he can have a nice camera to vlog with. I don't want him using a crappy webcam, because that would really annoy me. Plus, it would give him versatility and mobility when filming.

I just realized that I haven't posted a video that used my car camera stand yet. I will have to do this in the near future. Come to think of it, I haven't used it since Christmas break. I guess I could do my next vlog in the car. It might be kind of odd if we aren't going anywhere special, so I will have to figure out an interesting destination to be headed toward when I use the stand.

If you have any ideas, leave them in the comments below, I will see you on Tuesday.

Love,
Elizabeth W.

Happy Post Of The Day!

Okay, so I woke up this morning to one of my friends posting on facebook that he is going to prom as the 11th doctor, complete with bowtie and fez. He isn't my date, but I am now ten times more excited about prom, nonetheless.

I am posting this from my fifth period class, since I don't feel like reading a book right now. I am trying to type quiety so that I will not draw attention to myself. I have already finished the assignment. Actually, I finished it yesterday. I just don't want to get in trouble for being on the internet or whatever.

Today I have to go to the post office immediately after school. I have to mail off a scholarship application along with some transcripts. I hope my mom doesn't make me drive to town. It will be really hectic due to traffic, not to mention I have never driven in town before.

I am significantly more relaxed today since I know that the transcripts and stuff will be taken care of. I am also very tired  since I stayed up late last night working on stuff and I drove to school this morning and didn't get to drink all of my coffee.

I hope to get to edit my vlogs and stuff on wednesday and get them uploaded. It is hard for me to make more vlogs without uploading the others first, because then the others become useless and outdated.

There is a chance that I might get a new camera for graduation. I hope so. I was told to basically look up which one I want. The thing is, I don't know which one I want. I would love a DSLR camera. Something with a good FPS would be nice. Then I could do some of the slow-motion things that I have planned but haven't gotten to film yet.

I checked out a new book from the library yesterday, "Dreamcatcher" by Stephen King. I have never read any of his books, but I figured this one looked good. I hope it is. If not, I will have to return in and find something more interesting.

I really want to read John Green's other books. An Abundance of Katherines. The Fault in Our Stars. The problem is my lack of money and ability to go to a book store, and the school library's lack of more interesting and more recently published books. My friend's older brother has all of the books, and she said she would ask him to bring them back from college so we could read them. But who knows how long that will take. Dah-vEEd, if you are reading this, which I doubt you are, you should somehow get all of your John Green books to Ellen ASAP and then tell her to give one to me to read.

I loved Paper Towns, I just felt that the ending was a bit of a let down. The person who seemed to matter most really didn't matter that much in the scheme of things. People part ways and it just bothers me that the ending is so sad and realistic. Then, so is life.

But the best thing about Paper Towns is that it makes me want to do something that will keep me memorable, even when I leave my town. I have already made some legacy with the blog and YouTube, but I still feel like I could do more. And I really have the need to do it before I leave high school, and to do it with my friends. Like, pull an all nighter doing things like Quentin and Margo did. Not mean things like revenge, but fun random things like going to the mall dressed in random costumes and spending a night in the woods in a treehouse and stuff that we will never get a chance to do again.

If you have any idea of things like this that I could do with my friends or a story of your own, leave it in the comments.

Love,
Elizabeth W.

Strange Happenings

So... Today has been kind of strange so far, and will most likely continue to be strange.

In first period I had to ask my teacher to write a reccomendation letter for a scholarship application. I've never done that before. I didn't know if there was a proper way or if you just ask. But, I just asked and she said okay. I just said I needed it by sometime next week or so. I didn't want to be forceful or make her rush. I have to do the same in seventh period.

When I got into third period (the period I am currently in as I am typing this) I sat down at my computer and it felt different. The keyboard and the mouse are the same. The computer monitor and CPU seem to be the same ones. But it is almost as if it has been reset. The internet icon was missing from the desktop. The background was different. The internet history was cleared. There are no documents. It was perfectly normal yesterday, but today everything is wonky. Our tech ladies (AKA: "The Sisters") probably came in and did something to it. *Involuntary Shivering*

I will leave school early today. My mom is supposed to pick me up around 3 or so in order to take me to an optometrist appointment. I am going to get my eyes checked and then possibly go to get new glasses if there is time. I hope there is time. I want new glasses. I hope to get some similar to the ones I have already, but slightly different. I want what I call "David Tennant" or "Doctor Who" glasses. Basically, black framed glasses that are rectangular shaped. The pair that I have been using is very similar, but the frames are wire instead of plastic and they are slightly rounded. I just hope such glasses fit my face well.

I am super talkative again today. I really don't want to stop typing. I had Green Mountain brand caramel vanilla coffee today. It was so delicious. When you go to brew it in the Keurig machine, it smells like caramel corn.

Yesterday, I worked on my economics homework at school, then spent all of my time at home watching Les Miserables. I hadn't seem it before, so one of my friends is letting me borrow the DVD of like the 25th anniversary performance or whatever. Nick Jonas plays one of the main characters. It is like a three hour show, so I only watched an hour of it yesterday before deciding to stop and continue it later. I got to the intermission. But the story is soooooooooooooooooooo good and very sad. My friends don't really like the part being played by Nick Jonas because he does not act and sing the same as the other people on stage. He lacks the foreign accent and sings in more of a popstar voice than an operetic voice. I like it, even though it is different and takes a couple of minutes to get used to.

I realized yesterday that Nick Jonas is only three years older than me. When I was younger and a really big fan of the Jonas Brothers, I thought that they were all so much older than me. Kevin and Joe are, but Nick really isn't that far off. Technically if we were both normal people, we could meet at college, fall in love, and get married and it be appropriate. NOT that I have daydreams of that sort of thing. I just think about ages and stuff and how old is too old when you are looking at a future spouse. I think having a few years in between you is okay, but any more than 6 or 7 is a little out there.

Then again, I have never actually had a for-real boyfriend or gone on a for-real date. I have never been in for-real love and I was the one with guts who asked a guy to prom last year.

Single. Forever. I'm. Hopeless.

I still have no clue what I will do for prom this year. If no one asks me, which is a very likely thing, I'll probably tag along with my best friends. However, they both have boyfriends who have graduated, so they can either go without a date or have their boyfriends do a background check and bring them anyway. If the second option becomes a reality, I will totally be a third wheel... Well, a fifth one.

I can think of about three guys that I would go to prom with. Maybe five now that I think harder. None of them have girlfriends. However, I doubt any of them would consider asking me. SEE? THIS IS WHY I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SO UNAFRAID, because guys are too dumb to consider me. They seem me as just a friend and okay being alone. Ugh.

I just hope things change when I go to college. There has to be someone that I look appealing to once I go to college. I have been told before by a guy that I looked pretty, but that when you spend all of your school years associating with someone, you don't seem to be attracted to them in that way.

GREAT. Now I've depressed myself.

I'll just wait anxiously for college and go to prom by myself and keep reminding myself that God has someone out there for me. Whatever.

Love,
Elizabeth W.
