Summer Lists

Well, today I am technically supposed to have my semester exam for this period. However, I have already finished my dual credit class, so there is nothing special about it. There is no exam to take. I have to take fifth and seventh period exams also, but I exempted the exams for those two classes, so I will be in the commons for those parts of the day. Next week, I only have to come to school and check in on Thursday, and I have first period only on wednesday. Friday we have graduation practice, then graduation. Monday we have off because of memorial day.

Nearly every summer, I have this list of songs that I want to make videos for, books that I want to read, and things that I want to do. This year, I haven't made them yet, so I decided to make them into part of the blog post. Let's go!

There are probably more things that I can't currently remember but will put here eventually. I feel like some of these won't happen and some of them are bound to happen no matter what. I think I might post an update about half way through summer about how far I have gotten. I am also not going to blog as often during the summer (sorry!). I haven't figured out the schedule yet, but I'm thinking about once a week. I will be posting videos more often though, so that might be helpful. Oh, and if you have anything that you think that I should do or whatever or if you are doing something interesting this summer, feel free to leave it in the comments. Book reccomendations are highly appreciated also.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight

I just finished reading the book The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith last night. It was a great book with a really cute story. TSPOLAFS, gosh that is a whopper of an initialism (not an acronym, because you can't pronounce it as a word), follows the 48 hour story of these two teenagers who meet in an airport and end up on the same flight to London. The girl is on her way to her father's wedding to her new stepmother and the boy is on his way to... Well, another event that is similar but not the same. And they're so perfect for eachother and end up talking about everything under the sun and basically falling in love within the first few hours of them meeting. I would give this book basically a 9 out of 10 because it ends in a cliff hanger, and I want to know if they end up becoming boyfriend/girlfriend or if they ever see eachother again. I thought it was going to be terrible because the beginning is kind of slow, but it turned out to be a great read, and unique because the story happened in such a short amount of time.

The librarian is not at school today, which bothers me because I don't have a book to read since I finished TSPOLAFS. I don't know what I'll do all day to occupy my time, especially since I don't have drama practice today. I guess I'll study and work on scholarship applications. Maybe when I get home I'll work on a video. I have a couple ready to edit, I just have to sit down and work on them.

I wonder what the SPOLAFS really is. I mean, obviously the probability is very small. I guess 1 in 1000000000 or so. I wish you could actually look that up, because I tried and I still didn't find it. Probably because it is impossible to study.

I really don't know what to talk about today. I'm not really in a talkative mood. More of a thinkative mood.

I'm going to try and start an exercise routine soon. I'm kind of scared, because I'm not very athletic at all, but I really do want to get back into shape. We have a really long driveway, so I'll be using that to run and bike and walk and stuff. We also have a weight lifting set thing. I forgot what its called. It is not wieght stuff exactly, but more like resistance training. GAH, why can't I remember what that is called?!?! I've thought about eating healthier, but I really don't like to do things like that, and it requires too much willpower, so I will not. I figure some exercise is better than none at all.

Prom is the real reason that I am going to start exercising again. I need to make sure that I still fit into my prom dress. I need to lose that winter insulation. I am by no means fat, but I do feel slightly unhealthy, though I am probably underweight for my age/size. I think if I can start now and get used to exercising, maybe the dreaded "Freshman 15" will skip over me. I also know that it will be better for my future and I will have fewer health problems when I am older. I think its wierd how exercise plans always say "Consult your physician before beginning any new exercise regimen or diet", but no one ever does, unless the doctor is the one who tells them to do it. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I just think exercise needs to be a spontaneous thing, where you decide maybe a week or two before, not consult your doctor before you start it. Doctors don't know me. They don't know about what I need to do. *Insert attitude here*

The Perks of Being a Senior...

Today, there are many students that are not in their normal classes at school. Instead, they are sitting in seperate classrooms that contain about 25 kids each and taking the dreaded standardized test. I hate standardized tests because not everyone is the same, so they CAN'T be expected to score the same, but they are judged by their score regardless. Personally, I do great on stadardized tests because I am above average.

I don't have to take the test because I'm a senior and I took it last year! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Anyway, I began editing one of the videos that I have been working on yesterday. Its about an art museum. But its really not. Its kind of metaphorical. And deep. And intense. Like camping...

Thats about all of the info I can give you right now, since I don't know  when it will be finished.

I woke up this morning to hearing a familiar song being played on my parents' ipad. I sat there for a moment, listening and trying to figure out what it was. Then it dawned on me... My parents were listening to the song "Heart of War" by FOREVER THE FIERCE! I actually know the people that are in the band, so its kind of more cool. Their single, i guess is what you would call it, is out on itunes now, and you should go buy it because its an awesome song. I can't say that I've bought it yet, but thats because I haven't been on itunes. I do plan on buying it soon and listening to it over and over and probably making a music video for it.

Yeah.

I've gotta go check my stocks, so BYE!

Man, I'm really hungry...

BTW: the bear has officially been named Pierre, so he can be called Pierre the bear...

Secret Fanfiction...

I guess this is something that I've been hiding for a long time. I want to finally let it out.

I am secretly a fanfiction writer.

There it is. I said it. I know, I know, its hard to believe. I don't write it very often, just when I come up with a really intriguing story idea. I don't really publish them on the internet either. I have a notebook that I carry around all of the time, and I write them there. Sometimes I put myself in the story, sometimes I don't. Most of the time, though, I make the main character a romanticized version of myself.

The beginning of my fanfiction writing was probably when I first started highschool. My first one was a Priates of the Caribbean one. Basically, I took the story where the third movie left off (there were only three movies at that time), skipped foreward about ten years, and expanded upon it.

My first ideas for the stories I write normally come from things I think up to help me get to sleep at night. I used to read or listen to music before I go to bed, and I still do sometimes, but now I do this. I think of some person or character that I would like to meet or be, and then create a story in my mind where that can happen.

It kind of works the same way I come up with the ideas for my music videos. I sit there and think about the song until I come up with a few sequences that would make sense. Then, I find a way to stitch them together. I just have a really great imagination and ability to see things in my mind.

Most of the time, the stories I come up with are based on my most recent obsession. There was the Pirates one, along with a Peter Pan one, and a superhero one, and right now I am working on a FF5 one. I have never thought about putting the stories out for people to read until now. I'm still very unsure about it.

One big problem with my stories is that I can never get to the end of one. The only one I ever finished was the Peter Pan one, and it was only like a page and a half long. My Pirates one is still a work in progress. I got about half way into the story. I have about thirty handwritten pages. I think someday I will try and put them together in a kind of anthology. Maybe I can find someone to help me come up with the endings.

I am not really sure about whether I should be ashamed or proud of my ability to come up with a stoy continuation from almost anything. Its wierd because I have been doing this sort of thing since I was a little kid. I would do something more like act it out back then, but I still put myself into stories with characters that weren't really there.

So, the 100th blog post is coming up soon and I would love to do something special for it. Its like a birthday for my blog. I've really increased in popularity since I first started blogging. I'm not sure what to do though. If I get enough encouragement, I might post one of my fanfiction stories. However, I'm still very scared to do that. I promise my blog won't turn into a place for nothing but fanfics, this should just be a one time thing.

So, at this point, I need your help. In order to get me to post a fanfic on the 100th post, I need you, the viewers, to do the following things.

  1. Subscribe to me on YouTube
  2. Subscribe to blog updates
  3. Get this blog to 300 views for this month before the 100th post
  4. Comment and tell me what fanfic you want to read
Your choices for a fanfic are as follows:
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Superheroes
  • Peter Pan
  • Family Force 5
  • Something that you suggest
Right now, there are eight more posts until the 100th one. That means three more posts this week, no posts this weekend, then five more posts next week. Next week, on friday, I will post the 100th post. Its funny, because that is the day I get out of school. I will probably start by posting part of the story during my time at school, then finish the rest once I get home. I will only be in each class for like thirty minutes, and I should be home by about two or three. Nonetheless, if you want to hear the story, you have to comment, subscribe, and get me a bunch of views.

Right now, there are 157 views for this month. You are more than half way there. Meanwhile, keep reading, and comment to let me know what story you want to see. I'm relying on you all to do this, or I won't post the story. Good luck, and may the best story suggestion win!

Elizabeth W.

Ukulele Day #1

So, today I brought my ukulele to school. Yes, I have a ukulele. Yes, I play it quite frequently. Yes, I only got it about two months ago. Technically, the one that I play on is my brother's, but mine is more of a toy and his is an authentic instrument. So, I brought my brother's ukulele to school today because I wanted to use it for senior pictures.

I was relly impressed at how well they handled someone bringing such an odd instrument in as a prop. I can't wait to see how the pictures turn out. They're supposed to mail the proofs within three weeks. I can't wait.

But I think its amazing how much of a conversation starter a ukulele is. I mean, you simply walk in with it and you're bombarded with questions of "Is that a ukulele?" "Do you know how to play?" "Can I try?" "Will you play it for me?"... Its so crazy. And for someone who doesn't work well with random conversations, its really strange and almost scary. I almost dread it. However, I do enjoy the fact that people notice. I guess I could start saying, okay, I'll play you one song, but you can go to my youtube channel and watch a ton of others.

A ukulele is also rather cumbersome to carry around all day. If I didn't have a backpack, a jacket, and a stack of books to lug around all the time, it wouldn't be so bad. If my brother hadn't lost the case, it wouldn't be so bad either. I have to carry it around by the neck because he lost the case that slips over it and has a handle.

Today, I have to stay for extra time after school because my parents (both are teachers) have a meeting after school. I guess at least I will have something to work on and entertain myself with.

I have been learning several Christmas songs to put on Youtube and play at family gatherings, but I have found no time to make videos. I hope that I will have a little time today, that way I can make one or two. I really enjoy making the videos with my dad's webcam instead of my cell phone camera. It takes better quality video and is more predictable. Hopefully I can manage to do some videos sometime this week. If not, I may have to wait until Christmas break.

Well, its almost time for me to go... You know what that means!

Question of the post:
If you could hear any song played on the ukulele, what song would it be?

Well, I have to go make t-shirt designs and then review for a history test.
See you tomorrow!
