Catching my breath, and hoping the week rushes by...

I woke up this morning and I felt absolutely terrible. I couldn't stand up for long periods of time, my stomach hurt, the whole deal. So, I pushed through it and went to school anyway. I feel significantly better now, but I would really like to just fast forward through the rest of this week.

Today and tomorrow are the only days I will be officially at school this week. And that means that I have to worry about getting makeup work, plus I have to go to the counselor's office and get a few more scholarship applications. I have some that have due dates coming up, so I have to finish those and send them in.

Wednesday I will be at school for about half of the day, because that is the day that we will go to rehearse on the official huntsville stage. Then, on Thursday, we have contest at the huntsville stage. I will have been to huntsville three times within 5 days.

I am looking foreward to Friday and Saturday, because my mom and I are going to San Marcos to visit the college. We will leave early Friday, to get there with plenty of time, since its like four hours away. We'll spend some time taking more senior pictures and wandering around, doing whatever. That night we will stay in a hotel, and in the morning we will get up and go to the college. I'm going to bring my laptop so I can vlog on those days. I haven't really been consistent with my vlogging times, but I have managed to vlog every day in April so far. I am not sure how I will do so on Wednesday or Thursday, but I will figure something out.

I think that I want to get another SMASH book for when I start college, and do one every year from then on. Its like scrapbooking, but more free-form, so its easier. Plus, I can take it with me and work on it anytime. I was SMASHing things on the car ride yesterday, when we were on the way to the arboreum and botanical gardens to take pictures.

I think I am going to work on my SMASH book now, since I feel like it. I feel like there is something more productive I could be doing, but I don't exactly feel great.

Elizabeth W.

I really don't have anything to talk about but I'm blogging anyway...

I am currently reading a book about WW2. Its called Between Shades of Gray, and its by Ruta Sepetys. Its a really good book, but I want to hurry up and finish it. I keep getting hassled for it because the name is similar to that of a book that is well known for being not-so-nice. I keep telling people that it has nothing to do with that, but they keep picking on me for it.

I really have no clue how I can vlog today or tomorrow. I will get home at like 9 today, so I will probably vlog during or after drama pratice. I may not get to edit it. I might be able to upload it while I am eating dinner. As far as tomorrow, I am going to visit a college, then I will be taking some senior pictures in places with bluebonnets. I really don't know when I will find the time to vlog. Welll, technically the vlogging can happen any time during the day, since I will be able to have my camera with me. But, I may not be able to upload it until late at night, if at all. I've been thinking about getting up rather early and uploading a vlog before I leave, but that will be kind of difficult. I will be leaving the house at 7 or so, maybe earlier, so I don't know how early I will be able to get up. I would like to get a decent amount of sleep tonight.

Today, I may be going to see a play. My drama teacher is thinking about cutting practice short to go as a group and see "The Great Gatsby", which is the other advancing play, and our competition. Supposedly it was really good. I hope so, because I don't want to practice from 4 to 8:30.

I'm not very talkative because I haven't had coffee in a whole week. Our Keurig machine broke, and we haven't gotten the chance to get a new one yet, so I've gone without coffee since it broke. Well, I had some instant coffee on Sunday, but instant coffee is nowhere near the real thing. Hopefully we can get a new machine this weekend, so I can have coffee again. We have a normal coffee maker, but it takes too much effort and time to make coffee with it.

When I go to college, I hope I can have my own keurig coffee maker. That way I can have coffee whenever I want. I can fix it while I get ready. I will be staying in the dorms, so I hope the dorm I end  up in has two seperate bedrooms. I want to have a door that I can close to get away from my roommate if I need to. And I can keep it in my bedroom area if my roommate is mean or doesn't like coffee.

The wall beside my bed, which has been featured in several videos (look back at the ukulele covers) is covered in things that I like or think are cool. I don't know that I will take it down when I go to college, but I think I will make another in my dorm. I just think it would make a great background for vlogging and stuff.\

The other day, I created a box for things to take with me when I go to college, and every time I put something new in it I get excited. I just want to be able to have my own living area and be semi-independent.

Is it strange that I'm ready for college, but I'm not exactly ready to graduate high school? There are SOOOOO many things that I am going to miss. Chocolate chip cookies that we have at lunch. Easy classes. All my friends. And its almost a surreal thing to think that I have been working 13 years to get this far, and I've finally made it. I don't know what I'll do when I wake up the morning after graduating and think, wow, I will not step foot in that high school to go to classes for the rest of my life. I will never again have the experience of blogging in the library or sneaking into the teacher's lounge for snack during after school practices. And it makes me miss the little things, and the times long past, like playing crazy imagination games on the playground and being on teams during PE that were based on class. My first crush. Field day. Middle school dances. Prom. Pep-rallies. Singing songs together in class, or while walking down the hallway. Comments made on my pink skinny jeans or my unicorn backpack. Gosh, its almost all gone.

I do have a few things left before its over though. Senior Prom. Senior Trip. Filming a Telenovela. Checking my ranking one last time. Writing a speech (hopefully). Senior Pictures. Finishing my SMASH book. OAP contest. Aquatic Science field trip.

This life is made of so many things, and each year passes by faster and faster. I want to make the most of it.

Love,
Elizabeth W.

Clinic Day!

Today we have another clinic for One Act Play. There are only about three more weeks left of this stressful madness! Whoo!

Today we get to go to another school to get critiqued on our play in order to make it better. We are supposed to eat first lunch, which as thrown me off completely because I don't know who to sit with or anything. I also have to miss my after lunch classes and walking to the bus with Taylor, since we won't be back until 5 or so.

Yesterday, while shopping for costume stuff, I found some stuff for myself also. I got a pair of red high heels that are really shiny. They're not really high, but they make me a bit taller. They have cushioning in them too, so they're rather comfortable. I got a cute pair of flats that I will use for the play and probably wear at least once a week also. I found a shirt on the sale rack for $5 and I got it. It is just a grey tshirt that has snoopy from peanuts on it, but I like it because its comfy, cute, and it only cost $5.

I have had nothing to eat/drink today so far except coffee. It was good and has made me hyper, but I feel really hungry. Good thing I have lunch after this!

I am not looking foreward to the bus ride to the other school. I hate riding on buses because they stink and they're never the right temperature. Someone always decides to put the window down too, so my hair always gets messed up. I really don't care that much aboutmy hair, but I do not like when it gets in my face, which is what the wind causes it to do.

I am looking foreward to Prom and Senior Trip though. Those are coming up. Because our class has been really good about paying their dues, we basically won't have to pay anything for the trip, and we get to take fancy buses and stuff. We're going to six flags or something. I really could care less about amusement parks, but I'll get to hand out with my friends. I don't really care that much for roller coasters and stuff.

Someday, I want to got to Disney. I've never been to either theme park, but I've always wanted to go. There has never been enough money to get there and back and buy tickets and everything else. I hope we can go sometime in the near future. I love the fact that they have actual characters running around the park. I love cosplay type stuff for some reason... Probably because I'm and actor and I'm still a little kid on the inside.

I kind of want to keep writing so that Taylor will have something to read and think about while I'm gone. Yeah, I'm that thoughtful.

Doh! I'm ranked 42 in the stock game now. It all took a turn for the worse. My stocks are doing good, but not good enough to make me money. I think I just need to sell off some stuff. I think its strange that the stock market can be so addicting. Even though this is just a game and there is no real money involved, some people are obsessed.

I had a bad dream last night. Taylor was in it. It wasn't scary, but it wasn't pleasant. I really don't want to talk about it because it is kind of personal. Then again, now that I've said that I realize that all dreams are personal. When I woke up, I thought it had really happened and I almost freaked out. I hate dreams like that that are so realistic and hard to tell if they were just a dream.

Thanks to the channel "Vsauce" on YouTube, I learned something insignificantly interesting yesterday. When I was a kid, I would always see those little floaty bacteria looking things in my vision. I would sit there and stare at them and wonder what they were, but no adult would ever understand what they were when I described them. According to Vsauce, those are actually little microscopic organisms and things that live in the fluid in and around your eye. They're impossible to see unless you have a microscope. However, when the light is right and they get on the retina of your eye, they cause a shadow and you can see them. Thank you vsauce, for solving a lifelong mystery for me.

I did not make a video yesterday like I talked about. I decided that taking a camera into a store was probably not the best idea. Stores don't like that. And I thought it would be good to spend some quality chatting time with my mother. So, I didn't video anything. I really need to stop saying that I will do something, because I never do. I do have stuff to edit though. I hope to do that soon.

My leg just fell asleep. No me gusta. It feels all tingley and wierd now. I have this strange and irrational fear that one day I will be in a public place, just sitting there, and my leg will fall asleep without me noticing. Then I will try and get up to walk and I'll just fall over because my leg was asleep. I don't know if it could happen, but that is one of my irrational fears.

I feel like this blog follows the complicated and crazy thought proccess that my mind uses. I feel like I might confuse some people with my randomness too. Sorry (not)!

So, you know how I talked about starting google adsense on this blog and youtube when I turned 18? Well, I think I may do it over spring break instead. I'm averaging 100 views a day. I think I could be making some money off of this. I hate ads just as much as the next teenager (literally, I complained about it a few days ago), but I do think this will be a good thing. My mom and I talked it over and it seems like a good business decision. Next week is spring break for our school, so be ready.

Man, I have Thrift Shop stuck in my head. I have since I left the house this morning. It makes me want to go bargain hunting and stuff, and I don't have the ability to right now. Today that and "Heart of War" by FTF have been stuck in my head. Never both at once, but going back and forth between the two of them.

Love,
Elizabeth W.

The Perks of Being a Senior...

Today, there are many students that are not in their normal classes at school. Instead, they are sitting in seperate classrooms that contain about 25 kids each and taking the dreaded standardized test. I hate standardized tests because not everyone is the same, so they CAN'T be expected to score the same, but they are judged by their score regardless. Personally, I do great on stadardized tests because I am above average.

I don't have to take the test because I'm a senior and I took it last year! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Anyway, I began editing one of the videos that I have been working on yesterday. Its about an art museum. But its really not. Its kind of metaphorical. And deep. And intense. Like camping...

Thats about all of the info I can give you right now, since I don't know  when it will be finished.

I woke up this morning to hearing a familiar song being played on my parents' ipad. I sat there for a moment, listening and trying to figure out what it was. Then it dawned on me... My parents were listening to the song "Heart of War" by FOREVER THE FIERCE! I actually know the people that are in the band, so its kind of more cool. Their single, i guess is what you would call it, is out on itunes now, and you should go buy it because its an awesome song. I can't say that I've bought it yet, but thats because I haven't been on itunes. I do plan on buying it soon and listening to it over and over and probably making a music video for it.

Yeah.

I've gotta go check my stocks, so BYE!

Man, I'm really hungry...

BTW: the bear has officially been named Pierre, so he can be called Pierre the bear...

Almost Like Observation...

So, I am permanently in the library for this period. Right now, I am enjoying the odd experience of watching a librarian teach a spanish class. She does have the degree for it, but I've never seen her teach before. She is using some pretty interesting teaching techniques, and lots of interaction. Sitting and watching without her knowing is almost like the observation that you must do in order to become a teacher. The again, I'm not taking notes or paying a ton of attention. And I am not interacting with her or the class at all.

Yesterday I went to Walmart, something I only do about once or twice a month. There was so much Valentine's Day stuff, it was crazy. And I have to admit that I was slightly envious of the giant stuffed bears that people at school would be getting on the 14th. I mean, I have never seen so many stuffed bears that were nearly as big as I am. I think it would be cool to someday get a stuffed bear or a box of chocolates from someone. I haven't really gotten anything like that except in little insignificant cards in elementary school and from my parents and grandparents.

Yesterday I sat down and went through old pictures and picked out ones for my senior page. I narrowed it down to about 15 pictures. I feel like a lot of my childhood was missed though, because there is a gap from the age of 7 to the age of 12. And there are quite a few high school pictures. A bunch of pictures had to be removed from the stack just because they were too dark or too blurry. And I bearly have any pictures of me as a baby. I have the ones from my birth and a few when I was a couple months old, then it skips to when I was two or three.

My mom printed some of the pictures out from our family computer, and I got to take the ones that were not chosen for senior page to use in my SMASH book. I am really excited, because now I have more than one picture in it.One page that I worked on this morning is basically a collage of me in pictures that I was dressed up for. The pages are purple and pink, and it says "You look nice today" in the middle of one of the two pages. Then I put one picture of me as a baby, in a blue dress, one picture of me in like eighth grade at my cousin's wedding, and one picture from last year when I went to prom. I felt that it went with the "you look nice" text very well. Then I took and put squiggles and curlies around the pictures. I still have like two more pictures to pu tdown and decorate. And, I have to say, the half glue stick/half pen thing that came with the SMASH book is really useful for on-the-go SMASH-ing.

I got to have coffee this morning, so my brain is running like a billion miles an hour compared to yesterday. I am typing really fast also, hence the large paragraphs. It is hard to believe that it is already February. Only a little more than 100 days until graduation. Like 120, I think. I'm not sure if I'm ready to leave Tarkington High School or not. I think I'm ready to leave everything but the friends. I'll have facebook and youtube to keep in touch with them though, so it won't be that bad.

I have sent transcripts and SAT scores to both of the universities that I plan on attending, so I should get my acceptance letters sometime soon. Tomorrow I plan on calling the SHSU people and trying to get a way to check my application status online. They were supposed to have sent me an e-mail with the log-in info in it, but I never got the e-mail and the person that I tried to contact to remedy the problem won't call me back.

I am really looking foreward to college and stuff. My mom and Grandma say that if I don't get accepted, I can still just go to junior college for a year, but I really don't want to go to junior college. That would mean driving to school every day. And I would have to see people I know. And I would still have to deal with my family all the time, instead of escaping them for a month at a time by living in a dorm. And my brother did agree to the vlog communication thing, I just have to make sure that he doesn't forget. I also want it to be summer so that I can dye my hair red and wear shorts all the time and work on video stuff. And actually have free time.

I'm gonna go check for new lifescouts badges. DFTBA!

Love,
Elizabeth W.

Happy Post Of The Day!

Okay, so I woke up this morning to one of my friends posting on facebook that he is going to prom as the 11th doctor, complete with bowtie and fez. He isn't my date, but I am now ten times more excited about prom, nonetheless.

I am posting this from my fifth period class, since I don't feel like reading a book right now. I am trying to type quiety so that I will not draw attention to myself. I have already finished the assignment. Actually, I finished it yesterday. I just don't want to get in trouble for being on the internet or whatever.

Today I have to go to the post office immediately after school. I have to mail off a scholarship application along with some transcripts. I hope my mom doesn't make me drive to town. It will be really hectic due to traffic, not to mention I have never driven in town before.

I am significantly more relaxed today since I know that the transcripts and stuff will be taken care of. I am also very tired  since I stayed up late last night working on stuff and I drove to school this morning and didn't get to drink all of my coffee.

I hope to get to edit my vlogs and stuff on wednesday and get them uploaded. It is hard for me to make more vlogs without uploading the others first, because then the others become useless and outdated.

There is a chance that I might get a new camera for graduation. I hope so. I was told to basically look up which one I want. The thing is, I don't know which one I want. I would love a DSLR camera. Something with a good FPS would be nice. Then I could do some of the slow-motion things that I have planned but haven't gotten to film yet.

I checked out a new book from the library yesterday, "Dreamcatcher" by Stephen King. I have never read any of his books, but I figured this one looked good. I hope it is. If not, I will have to return in and find something more interesting.

I really want to read John Green's other books. An Abundance of Katherines. The Fault in Our Stars. The problem is my lack of money and ability to go to a book store, and the school library's lack of more interesting and more recently published books. My friend's older brother has all of the books, and she said she would ask him to bring them back from college so we could read them. But who knows how long that will take. Dah-vEEd, if you are reading this, which I doubt you are, you should somehow get all of your John Green books to Ellen ASAP and then tell her to give one to me to read.

I loved Paper Towns, I just felt that the ending was a bit of a let down. The person who seemed to matter most really didn't matter that much in the scheme of things. People part ways and it just bothers me that the ending is so sad and realistic. Then, so is life.

But the best thing about Paper Towns is that it makes me want to do something that will keep me memorable, even when I leave my town. I have already made some legacy with the blog and YouTube, but I still feel like I could do more. And I really have the need to do it before I leave high school, and to do it with my friends. Like, pull an all nighter doing things like Quentin and Margo did. Not mean things like revenge, but fun random things like going to the mall dressed in random costumes and spending a night in the woods in a treehouse and stuff that we will never get a chance to do again.

If you have any idea of things like this that I could do with my friends or a story of your own, leave it in the comments.

Love,
Elizabeth W.

Ukulele Day #1

So, today I brought my ukulele to school. Yes, I have a ukulele. Yes, I play it quite frequently. Yes, I only got it about two months ago. Technically, the one that I play on is my brother's, but mine is more of a toy and his is an authentic instrument. So, I brought my brother's ukulele to school today because I wanted to use it for senior pictures.

I was relly impressed at how well they handled someone bringing such an odd instrument in as a prop. I can't wait to see how the pictures turn out. They're supposed to mail the proofs within three weeks. I can't wait.

But I think its amazing how much of a conversation starter a ukulele is. I mean, you simply walk in with it and you're bombarded with questions of "Is that a ukulele?" "Do you know how to play?" "Can I try?" "Will you play it for me?"... Its so crazy. And for someone who doesn't work well with random conversations, its really strange and almost scary. I almost dread it. However, I do enjoy the fact that people notice. I guess I could start saying, okay, I'll play you one song, but you can go to my youtube channel and watch a ton of others.

A ukulele is also rather cumbersome to carry around all day. If I didn't have a backpack, a jacket, and a stack of books to lug around all the time, it wouldn't be so bad. If my brother hadn't lost the case, it wouldn't be so bad either. I have to carry it around by the neck because he lost the case that slips over it and has a handle.

Today, I have to stay for extra time after school because my parents (both are teachers) have a meeting after school. I guess at least I will have something to work on and entertain myself with.

I have been learning several Christmas songs to put on Youtube and play at family gatherings, but I have found no time to make videos. I hope that I will have a little time today, that way I can make one or two. I really enjoy making the videos with my dad's webcam instead of my cell phone camera. It takes better quality video and is more predictable. Hopefully I can manage to do some videos sometime this week. If not, I may have to wait until Christmas break.

Well, its almost time for me to go... You know what that means!

Question of the post:
If you could hear any song played on the ukulele, what song would it be?

Well, I have to go make t-shirt designs and then review for a history test.
See you tomorrow!

Senior Year

So, this year is my senior year in highschool,if you haven't already figured it out. Its wierd to be doing some of these things for the very last time. Today, I am feeling extra nostalgic because of the fact that I will attend my last peprally today. They will play a special song for the seniors and we'll all run down to the middle of the gym and I'll probably cry. I always get emotional over things like this. I keep thinking of how I will soon be moving on. Some of these people I will never see again (PRAISE THE LORD!) and some of them I will really miss. I start thinking about college and what type of things I want to have in my dorm and what kind of new people I will meet. Then I take a big jump ahead to the future where all of us will be married and some of us will have kids of our own. I have friends who have been in relationships for a year or more and I sit and think, will they be married the next time we meet after high school? It seems that these years go by so fast.

Personally, I am in no hurry to leave my hometown. I don't hate my family or the tiny community that I live in. I wouldn't mind staying here all of my life. But I know I am destined for bigger things. I want to be a movie director. I know that directing is something that I am really good at and enjoy and I also know that there is very little chance of me staying where I currently am and making my dream a reality. I know I will probably have to move to a big city or possibly California (Eeeeeewwww! Liberals! No Offense...) in order to find a job. I would love to work kind of free-lance like Issaac Dietz and Tessa Violet do. Those two filmmakers are my heroes at the moment. I don't know if I'll ever become as famous as Steven Spielberg or Charlie Chaplin, but I know I will become a director somehow.

On a completely unrelated note, I really don't know why I have begun blogging again. I know that I want to keep track of the fun I am having during my senior year, so that is part of it. I also know that many famous people who I am a fan of blog when they have nothing else better to do. Currently, I have very little else to do. I could write essays for scholarships but I am way too distracted today. I have no real work to do in my online college class at the moment. I just felt thinky and needed to get it out.

On the subject of YouTube, by the way (Wow, I am being really random today (Hey! That rhymed!)) I am working on getting some neew editing software. I shot a music video on like October 27th but I haven't edited it yet because of the fact that Windows Movie Maker is a really crappy video editing tool. I want to be able to use Sony Vegas someday, but it is way out of my price range at the moment. My current budget is $0 to whatever my parents will buy me. I think I might just download a free trial of PowerDirector and make the music video from there. I have worked with PowerDirector before and it seemed decent. The music video is to the song "Zombie" by Family Force 5, and it has actual people in it besides myself and my brother. So, be on the lookout for that sometime around Thanksgiving or Christmas. I will probably do some how-to/blog videos and covers before then, so don't worry. And if you get to bored with my videos, feel free to watch the many videos of Isaac Dietz, Meekakitty, and Nanalew. They are all pretty amusing. And amazing.

Wow, I have taken up a whole 20 minutes just typing this. Dual Credit class really is useful for something after all. I really should do this more often. I keep having these random ideas of things that I want to do. Today, blogging was one. I also came up with a senior year music video idea today. I have my camera in my backpack, so I should be able to start it today also. I want to start my own charity/mission type of thing. I want to help people while having fun and have a way that others can help them also. It still in the developmental processes of my brain. I have been meditating on it for several days. I kinda want to make it into a movie project also. Isaac Dietz did a thing called "Search For Joy" that was really interesting in my opinion. I want to do something similar.

And now, because I have run out of ideas for what to type and because I just want to be EVEN MORE RANDOM...

Question of the day... errr, blog... or week or something like that:

If you could replace a single hour long segment of your day with an activity that you enjoy, what segment would you replace, why, and what activity would you replace it with?

College Help

I am currently a senior in high school. That means I spend most of my free time filling out applications for colleges or scholarships. I know that some people who read this are probably doing the same thing. So, I'm going to help you out in trying to pay for college. Here are a few scholarship search sites. If you visit them through the following links, it can help both of us win money. Thanks in advance, and happy hunting! Leedle Leedle Leedle...
